I am a California trusts and estates attorney with over ten years of practice devoted exclusively to this area of law. My path into the field was unconventional — and I believe it gives my clients a meaningful advantage.
Out of law school, I joined Gaw Van Male, LLP, a well-respected boutique trusts and estates firm in Napa, California. There, I spent four years immersed in complex trust administrations — the work that happens after a grantor passes away. Most attorneys learn estate planning first and may never handle a full administration. I did it in reverse. I learned firsthand how trusts actually operate under pressure: the disputes, the accounting challenges, the fiduciary obligations, the court proceedings.
That experience fundamentally shapes how I approach estate planning today. Because I have seen what goes wrong in administration, I can anticipate those problems during the planning stage and guide clients toward solutions that will hold up when it matters most. After Napa, I returned home to Los Angeles to open my own practice, where I continue to serve clients throughout California.
Exclusively focused on trusts and estates — it is all I do, and I bring the full depth of that focus to every matter.
Guiding trustees through every stage of administration after a grantor's passing — from initial steps and creditor claims through asset distribution, accountings, and court filings.
Revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and comprehensive plans tailored to your family and financial situation. Planning informed by real-world administration experience.
Sophisticated strategies for high net worth individuals and estates, including irrevocable life insurance trusts, intentionally defective grantor trusts, generation-skipping trusts, and charitable planning vehicles.
Court-supervised administration of estates, from petition filing through final distribution. Navigating California probate proceedings efficiently and with minimal burden on the family.
Preparation of California Probate Code §1061 fiduciary accountings for trust and estate administrations. Detailed, court-ready workbooks that satisfy statutory requirements.
Selective representation in trust and estate disputes, will contests, breach of fiduciary duty claims, and other contested proceedings. I take litigation matters when the case calls for focused, strategic advocacy.

Most attorneys learn estate planning first and may never handle a complex trust administration. I started on the administration side — years of managing fiduciary accountings, resolving disputes, distributing assets, and navigating court proceedings. That experience is now the foundation of every estate plan I draft.
Because I have administered trusts after the grantor's death, I know exactly where plans tend to break down. I build estate plans that anticipate those problems — clear trustee instructions, clean asset structures, and provisions that hold up under real-world administration.
I do not practice family law, personal injury, business litigation, or anything else. Trusts and estates is my entire practice. That means deeper knowledge, more pattern recognition, and better outcomes for every client who walks through my door.
I developed Balanced, a proprietary software tool that automates California fiduciary accountings — converting months of manual spreadsheet work into court-ready output in seconds. This is the level of investment I bring to solving real problems in this practice area.
I don't just practice trusts and estates law — I build tools to make it better.
Fiduciary accountings are one of the most tedious, error-prone tasks in trust and estate administration. I built Balanced to solve that problem — a desktop application that converts PDF bank and brokerage statements into complete California Probate Code §1061 accounting workbooks in seconds.
25+ institutions supported. Hundreds of transactions extracted and classified automatically. Court-ready Excel output.
